INSTALLATION & SETUP:

The initial installation of the cameras in the home and viewing using your PC monitor or TV is straightforward process with just a few small handy tools to get things going. To get the Zmodo surveillance cameras up and running, you need to run cables through your house to power them and get the feed back to the DVR. You can use a standard drill like the Black & Decker LDX120PK 20-Volt Drill to get the hole you need to run the cable thru.

The included cables are 60 ft long  but if you want to mount the cameras further away, you can pick up a 150ft cable for $16 BY CLICKING HERE. Be sure to run them through the walls the right way otherwise you can’t plug the cable into the DVR and the power adapter. Once you have the cables ready, decide whether you are plugging the DVR system into the computer or the TV.

If you are using your computer, to hook the DVR to the computer you will need a VGA to VGA Cable, if you are hooking it up to the TV, you will need some All-in-One BNC RCA Cable or some VGA cables if your TV has a VGA input. The cables are not included so you will need to purchase some. If you are looking to upgrade your TV, check out our Recommended Flat Screens Under $200.

Follow the instructions in the quick start guide and you are set up to go.

To get the view you want with the cameras you will have to adjust it until you have it at the spot where you want the camera feed to be recording.

DURABILITY
Rating: 4.8 out of 5.0

The Zmodo PKD-DK4216 is a very durable system with metal housing for cameras. Its as easy as mount the cameras with 3 screws, plug the cameras into the cables, run the wires to the unit and plug them in. Its easier than the average surround sound system.

QUALITY
Rating: 4.2 out of 5.0

The image of the video is decent for these cameras but overall does the job that it was meant to do. The overall image is at best when used withing 20 ft and the night vision is OK and works well in darkness up to about 10 feet with the images being shown in black & white. The system is very user friendly and easy to operate, getting the network up and running isn't difficult if you are computer savvy. Overall for less than $200, it is a great home surveillance security camera system.

Flexibility
Rating: 5.0 out of 5.0

As noted prior what makes this particular outdoor camera so great is the wide array of options it provides in viewing. No matter which option you choose, you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that your house is being monitored and that you have multiple options for viewing in the case of an emergency.
